This series defines beauty as that which gives pleasure to God. Scripture witnesses God finding pleasure not primarily in what we today call fine art, but in himself. God is pleased with Jesus in prayer and in baptism. The sacrifices of the Old Testament that please God, moreover, find their truest expression in the sacrifice of Christ. As ambassadors of Christ, we are ambassadors of his fragrant sacrifice to God. But how do we imitate his sacrificial offering? Is every sacrifice beautiful?
